“The best of the firstfruits of your ground you shall bring into the house of the LORD your God.” -Exodus 23:19

We believe that giving is an act of worship and thanksgiving to God. Tithes and offerings that are directed to Emmanuel are invested in our God-given mission here in the Shoreview area and in other God-honoring ways around the world.

We’re more than a bit obsessive when it comes to financial stewardship and accountability. Our members vote on our budget, our staff works hard to maximize every dollar, and all of our Elders receive monthly financial reports from an outside firm.

Ways to Give

What’s a “tithe” and why do so many churches reference it?

A tithe (10% of our income) is a frequently referenced starting point when it comes to faithful giving. It appears primarily in the Old Testament portion of the Bible[1], but the practice is affirmed by Jesus in Matthew 23:23.

The Bible teaches that we are stewards who have been entrusted with God’s resources[2]. God’s people are expected to offer God our first and our best[3].

The emphasis in Scripture is to treat everything as God’s property and to hold nothing back when God asks[4]. Presenting tithes and offerings is a means by which we demonstrate the sincerity of our faith[5].
